Who can get a library card?
Anyone that lives, works or attends school in the BOROUGH of Freehold may have a free card at this library.
What do I need to do to get a library card?
Bring in something that shows your current address in Freehold BOROUGH. Something like a drivers license or utility bill works great.
What if I don't live in Freehold BOROUGH but want to borrow things from Freehold Public Library?
No problem! You can pay $25 for a one-year membership. Renewals are $10 per year.
What if I want a book that the library doesn't have?
Fill out a book request slip at the library. We will try to borrow it from another library (Interlibrary Loan). Interlibrary Loan items must be picked up within one week. Interlibrary Loan privilages may be suspended for cardholders who repeatedly fail to claim their requested items or who have a history of returning material late or damaged.
What if I am late returning my book, magazine or DVD?
We don't charge late fees for material in our collection (with a few exceptions). However, Interlibrary Loan material returned past the due date incurrs a 25¢ per day late fee.
What if my borrowed material was lost or damaged?
Borrowing priviliges may be suspended until the patron pays the replacement cost of the item(s). Cost varies per item. Items overdue more than two months are presumed lost. Interlibrary Loan items lost or damaged may incur additional fees and penalties .
